As announced at MagicCon: Las Vegas, all Universes Beyond sets, including MTG FINAL FANTASY, will be legal in the Standard format from their official release date.

The World of Final Fantasy: A Brief Overview

Final Fantasy is a Japanese science-fantasy media franchise developed and published by Square Enix. At its core, it features role-playing games (RPGs) that blend medieval fantasy, urban fantasy, and science fiction.

The first Final Fantasy game was released in 1987. Since then, the series has grown to include sixteen mainline games and numerous spin-offs such as Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy X-2.

While each main title tells its own story, the series shares iconic elements like Moogles, Chocobos, and recurring names like Cid, who appears in nearly every installment.

What to Expect from MTG FINAL FANTASY

The set will span content from all mainline Final Fantasy games – from Final Fantasy I through Final Fantasy XVI. Expect stunning artwork from legendary Final Fantasy artists alongside renowned Magic illustrators.

Although Magic: The Gathering FINAL FANTASY is a Standard release, it does not extend the ongoing Magic storyline. Universes Beyond sets stand on their own, offering special highlights between the main Magic sets of 2025.

Product Overview

At launch, MTG FINAL FANTASY will offer Play Boosters and Collector Boosters, along with Bundles and a Gift Bundle releasing on June 27, 2025. You’ll also find a Starter Kit, Prerelease Kits, four Commander Decks (Precons), and four additional Commander Decks in a special Collector’s Edition.
