With the new Pokemon set, Forces of Time, TCG players have brand new and extremely strong Pokemon-ex cards at their disposal. In this article, we will take a closer look at the 10 strongest Pokemon-ex cards and show you strategies on how to use these cards wisely.

powers of time

... is the name of the new Pokemon TCG set from the Pokemon Company and was released on March 22, 2024. As time goes by, Pokémon and Trainer cards from the past and future will continue to be introduced into the Pokémon Trading Card Game.

In addition, ACE CLASS (ACE SPEC) cards, which first appeared in Black & White, are being reintroduced. ACE CLASS cards are very powerful cards with the restriction that only one ACE CLASS card can be used in the deck.

Forces of Time consists of 218 different cards. If you include the reverse holo cards, there are 358 cards. Divided into rarity levels, this looks like this:

  • 140 common, uncommon and rare (+140 reverse holo)
  • 15 double rare
  • 7 ace spec
  • 18 ultra rare
  • 22 illustration rare
  • 10 special illustration rare
  • 6 hyper rare

If you want to complete a master set of Forces of Time, you only need a 9-pocket zipfolio (360 cards) to store all the cards in a binder. If you also need space for duplicate cards, you can also use a 12-pocket zipfolio (480 cards).

Enough of the forewords, here is our list of the 10 strongest Pokemon-ex cards from Powers of Time:

10 Eisenfels ex

Eisenfels ex from Forces of Time

Starting this list is Iron Rock ex. Its attack " Repulsion Axe " can be very costly for the opponent to attack Iron Rock ex. However, in most situations it will not be enough to inflict enough damage on the opposing Pokemon.

The second attack, " Power Stomp ," may deliver a devastating blow to the opponent with 200 damage, but it requires the sacrifice of two Energy cards, making it an expensive option.

Even though Iron Rock's ex attacks aren't very convincing, he can be combined with other future cards and effects by declaring him a future Pokemon. This makes him a very unpleasant opponent. The moment when Iron Rock ex can shine is against the Pokemon Arceus VSTAR and its weakness to fighting attacks.

9 Fuegro ex

Fuegro ex

In 9th place we chose Incinerator ex. With the ability " Put the effort on " Incinerator ex could, under optimal conditions, perform the attack Burnout with just one Fire Energy. With 240 points of damage, this attack hits the opposing Pokemon hard. If it is still not knocked out, the additional burn could mean a KO in the opponent's next turn.

However, the opponent can react to this ability and only put one or two Pokemon on its bench. Then it becomes more difficult to charge up the Blaze Attack.

Fortunately, there is another card in Forces of Time that supports Fuegro ex when the opponent is short on cards on the Bench: Relicanth . Together with Litten and Kitsune (from the Silver Stormwinds set), they form a way out of this situation with Relicanth's ability " Memory Dive ". This ability also lets Fuegro ex perform attacks from its Pre-Evolves, and there are two very strong ones.

When Fugero ex has full HP, Kitsune's attack " Brave Claws " prevents Fugero ex from being Knocked Out by an attack during the opponent's next turn.

Litten's attack " Reprisal " does 20 damage for each damage counter on Fugero ex. A weakened Fugero ex can knock out pretty much any opposing Pokemon with this attack.

8 Schligdri ex

Sludge-ex has one thing that makes it worth having in your deck: its attack “ Tri-Color Pump .” Discard 3 Energy cards from your hand to deal 180 damage to a Pokemon on the field.

This is enough to quickly eliminate current meta Pokemon like Lumineon V and Ravager ex on the field and secure you 2 prize cards.

Unfortunately, its second attack, " Stunning Hold, " doesn't play a big role in duels. With a solid HP of 250, Sleighfly ex is in the middle of the HP rating of Pokemon ex from Forces of Time. That's why Sleighfly ex is ranked number 8.

7 Windewoge ex

Wind Wave ex from Powers of Time

The attack “ Catharsis Roar ” is a solid move to destroy most standard Pokemon, and the boost from 120 damage to 240 damage also makes many basic Pokemon ex look cold.

In order to use the additional boost of the attack, the opposing Pokemon must be affected by a special condition, which can sometimes be a challenge. Fortunately, there are cards that can help here. The Pokemon trading card Rage Mushroom can be used to induce poisoning and the Dangerous Jungle stage to place additional damage counters on the poisoned Pokemon.

Wind Wave ex's ability " Azure Sea " is always good to have. Pokemon like Mimikyu and Durengard cannot take damage from Pokemon ex and Pokemon V through their ability. Wind Wave ex's ability negates this effect.

6 Chelterrar ex

Chelterrar ex from Forces of Time

Torterrar ex has a lot to offer. With 340 HP, it is at the top of the HP rating of the Pokemon ex from Forces of Time. In addition, it has the attack " Forest Walk ", which only requires one energy to charge.

Chelcarain from Radiant Stars

The best thing about a Chelterrar ex deck is the pre-development of that one. Chelcarain from the Brilliant Stars set and its ability " Sun-Drenched Shell ". This ability allows you to search your deck for a Grass Pokemon and put it into your hand once per turn. With Chelcarain on the field, you have the opportunity to quickly bring various strategies involving Grass Pokemon into play.

5 Fury Flash ex

Furienblitz ex von Gewalten der Zeit

Furious Lightning ex can use its attack “ Yapping Thunder ” to take out strong Pokemon with a lot of HP in one hit. However, this requires four to five energy cards, which are then discarded from Furious Lightning ex. This is because the attack does 70 points of damage for each energy discarded.

Charging a Pokemon with so many energy cards, and doing so multiple times, can be a real challenge. This is where Professor Antiqua's Vitality or Sandfur ex come in very handy, as they allow you to attach energy cards to Furious Flash ex under certain circumstances.

Bursting Roar ”, the second attack of Fury Flash ex, brings a breath of fresh air to your hand and should provide you with energy and trainer cards again.

4 Gengar ex

Gengar ex from Powers of Time

Gengar ex can become a really unpleasant opponent with its ability “ Tormenting Curse ” and its attack “ Cunning Approach ”. That is why Gengar ex finds itself in number 4.

In combination with the item card Smash Hammer and the supporter card Giovanni's Charisma, it becomes even more difficult for the opponent to land hits. Pure desperation!

3 wedge flame ex

Wedge Flame ex from Powers of Time

Not only does Wedgeflame's attack " Firebolt " hit the opponent for a whopping 260 points of damage, it can also be charged in one turn by the Stadium Magma Pool , the Trainer card Professor Antiqua's Vitality , and the Energy card per turn.

This means that you should never sit back against a Wedge Flame deck, as a “ Firebolt ” can come out of nowhere at any time.

2 iron sheets ex

Eisenblatt ex from Forces of Time

The ability " Quick Adjustment " puts Iron Leaf ex directly into the active position when it is played from the hand to the Bench. In addition, any number of Energy cards can be transferred from this Pokemon to Iron Leaf ex. This allows the attack " Prismatic Blade " to be used out of nowhere.

What makes Iron Leaf ex particularly special is the ability to incapacitate a Charizard ex with just one hit due to its Grass weakness.

1 Eisenhaupt ex

Eisenhaupt ex from Machten der Zeit

Iron Man ex has one of the best abilities in the game: " Cobalt Command ". That's why it's ranked number 1! This ability increases the damage of Future Pokemon's attacks by 20 damage for each Iron Man ex on the field.

One Future Pokemon that can particularly benefit from this is Iron Hand ex . Its attack " Amplified Thanks " can, under optimal circumstances, hit the opponent with 200 points of damage and knock the opposing Pokemon out of action. In addition, the property of this attack allows you to take an additional Prize card, which in turn leads to a faster victory.

Conclusion

The latest Pokémon ex cards from Forces of Time bring a considerable amount of power to the Pokémon TCG. In particular, Wedge Flame ex, Iron Leaf ex and Iron Core ex have the potential to drive many meta decks to the brink of despair. With their strength and unique abilities, they promise exciting and intense battles.
