Duskmourn - House of Horrors: What is the story about?
The captivating main story of Duskmourn unfolds in six exciting chapters, which can be found on the official website dailymtg.com are accessible to anyone interested. For particularly dedicated fans, additional side stories offer the opportunity to delve even deeper into the mysterious world of Duskmourn.
At the beginning, Duskmourn appears to be a seemingly ordinary plane in the diverse universe of Magic: The Gathering. The residents live their everyday lives in towns and villages where one house is hardly different from another. The story begins with a family of three - mother, father and daughter Marina - moving into a run-down house. As soon as she enters the house, Marina senses an ominous presence, which she initially ignores.
With a dramatic leap in time, the story takes us to the present. The Wanderer, a central character in the story, puts together a powerful team to save Nashi, who is in distress. He had previously sent a desperate cry for help from a sinister, evil place. The team consists of a group of well-known characters: Kaito Shizuki, Tyvar Kell, Niko Aris and the brilliant Zimone Wola.
Their adventure begins when they enter Duskmourn through a magical door in Ravnica. This is where their dangerous mission to find Nashi and defeat the horrors of Duskmourn begins. What they don't know is that the house itself will prove to be their greatest and most unpredictable enemy.
The House of Horrors
Duskmourn is no ordinary plane, but a living, malevolent house with an insatiable appetite for fear and terror. Duskmourn separates you from your friends. This is one of the house's favorite tricks. It wants you to be isolated and frightened. The more afraid you are, the more the house wants you.
The house is not just a physical structure, but an intelligent entity that actively changes its architecture and manipulates and hunts its inhabitants within it. It adapts to the fears of its victims and uses them to isolate and terrorize them.
Duskmourn repairs and renews those it takes hold of, like an upholsterer reupholsters a sofa, seducing those who manage to survive in the area until they lose themselves and transform into a sinister figure.
The Omnihive 1000+: A Metaphor for the House of Horrors
Imagine if the Omnihive 1000+ was not just a storage box, but a miniature version of Duskmourn itself. Just like the infamous House of Secrets, the Omnihive 1000+ is far more than it meets the eye.
Duskmourn, the new plane in the Magic: The Gathering universe, is no ordinary dwelling, but a living, malevolent entity with an insatiable appetite for fear and terror. Much like the Omnihive 1000+ protects and organizes its contents, Duskmourn encloses its inhabitants - but with far more sinister intentions.
The house separates its victims from each other, a perfidious trick to isolate and frighten them. The greater the fear, the stronger Duskmourn's desire becomes. Similarly, the Omnihive offers 1000+ different compartments and compartments that separate your cards from each other - but for protection and better organization.
Duskmourn is more than just a physical structure; it is an intelligent entity that actively changes its architecture to manipulate and hunt its inhabitants. It adapts to the fears of its victims and uses these to terrorize them. In a similar way, although far more benevolent, the Omnihive 1000+ adapts to your needs, with flexible compartments and modular interior organization.
Just as Duskmourn 'repairs and renews' its victims, the Omnihive 1000+ offers protection and preservation for your precious cards and decks. But while Duskmourn transforms its inhabitants into eldritch creatures, the Omnihive 1000+ preserves the original state of your collection.
Although the Omnihive 1000+ is of course not a living, malevolent creature, its complexity and adaptability reflect the fascinating nature of Duskmourn. It is the perfect companion for your Duskmourn: House of Horrors Collection.

About the Omnihive 1000+
The Omnihive 1000+ from Ultimate Guard has space for over 1000 double-sleeved cards and is extremely versatile. It can hold not only cards, but also playmats, dice and accessories such as Boulder and Sidewinder. Two magnetic compartments allow for flexible storage of dice and decks. Up to four playmats fit in the Omnihive and even the MatPod can be integrated if required. The clever use of space and flexibility make it ideal for large collections and accessories.
Double exposure effect: The Sidewinder 100+
Double exposure is a popular effect in horror films to enhance eerie and supernatural elements. By superimposing two images on top of each other, a surreal atmosphere is created where ghosts, shadows or doppelgangers are visible at the same time as the real world. This visual trick disturbs the audience as it alienates the familiar and creates the feeling that something sinister is always present but not fully tangible. Double exposure thus creates a subtle horror that challenges the audience's imagination.
In the dark world of Duskmourn, reality and nightmare merge into an eerie whole. This is impressively reflected in the visual representation of the main characters, who appear in fascinating double exposures.
Kaito - Bane of Nightmare
Kaito, the ninja Planeswalker, finds himself alone in Duskmourn. Separated from the group, he fights his way through the treacherous corridors of the house. In a moment of extreme danger, he activates his Planeswalker ability and flees to Ravnica.
But Kaito does not abandon his friends. He returns to Duskmourn just when the situation seems most hopeless. His unexpected reappearance brings a surprising turn in the fight against Valgavoth.

Kona - Rescue Beastie
A survivor in Duskmourn who has not yet been consumed by the house and turned into a mindless monster, Kona has a heart of gold, a sense of danger, and jaws capable of crushing cellar spawn in a single bite.

Marvin - Murderous Mimic
In a fit of bloody cruelty, a member of the Slashfolk once seized a ventriloquist's dummy and used it to terrorize the survivors on Duskmourn. Now the creature hunts on its own, with no one pulling its strings.

Niko - Light of Hope
Niko Aris is a central character in Duskmourn: House of Secrets. With courage and determination, Niko goes ahead and plays a crucial role in saving Nashi. Together with the Wanderer, Niko frees Nashi from the clutches of the "Wickerfolk" - living wooden constructs that were once people and other survivors. Niko's shard brings the only sunlight to Duskmourn and could be the key to saving this dark world.

The Wandering Rescuer
The Wanderer shows strong leadership skills and works hard to find Nashi after he is reported missing. She assembles a rescue team and uses her Glimmer, which is born from her deep hope, to deftly navigate the ever-changing spaces of Duskmourn. Even when she is separated from the group, she and Niko brave the dangers posed by the Wickerfolk and the cultists.

Tyvar - The Pummeler
Tyvar is brave, impulsive and protective. He relies heavily on his physical abilities and uses his transmutation magic to disguise himself and Zimone from the dangers of the house. Despite his impatience, he is always vigilant and places particular emphasis on protecting his companion Zimone, with whom he has been cut off from the rest of the group.

Victor - Valgavoth's Seneschal
Victor is the leader of the Cult of Valgavoth and the only one who knows the way to his hideout in the basement. He is small, has a soft voice, wears robes and glasses with tiny scratches. His distinctive accessory is a leather-bound book that is prepared with moth-soothing powder.
Victor attempted to extract knowledge of other worlds from Nashi, Niko Aris, and the Wanderer after they were betrayed and captured by Winter. His goal was to open new possibilities for Valgavoth to open gates to other dimensions.

Zimone - All-Questioning
Zimone is intelligent, analytical and inquisitive. Even in dangerous situations, she remains calm and focused, relying on her knowledge and logic to solve problems. When Tyvar impulsively followed a supposed voice, Zimone rushed after him to stop him, which led to them being separated from the rest of the group. In search of her companions, they came to a mysterious library. Here, Zimone took the opportunity to study the old books and became certain that Duskmourn is an ever-changing house ruled by something evil.

The Playmats - Dark Secrets and Eerie Creatures
The playmats feature artworks from various concepts that were first seen in Duskmourn - House of Horrors They show the 'Unlucky Lands' and a new creature type, the 'Toy'. In addition, the demon Valgavoth is impressively presented on a playmat.
Abandoned Campground
The story goes that all the residents disappeared without a trace in a single night, while their belongings remained intact - strangely enough, completely infested with moths.

Lakeside Shack
Rumors tell of an eerie fate: Anyone who stays in the lonely hut by the lake until the thick fog envelops them will be haunted by a mysterious presence. A creature, it is said, rises from the depths of the nearby water and announces its presence with an ominous knock on the door.

Twitching Doll
On Duskmourn, the Animated Toys are inanimate objects that have gained consciousness and a death wish through the distorting influence of Valgavoth.
These toys avoid direct confrontation and usually approach their victims by pretending to be harmless. They are willing to be picked up and carried around by unsuspecting people and wait patiently until the victims let their guard down before striking. Once all victims have been eliminated, they return to a dormant state until the next unsuspecting survivor picks them up.
The only way to defeat an animate toy is to destroy it completely. Since they have no physiological structure, conventional methods of elimination are ineffective. As long as even one body part remains intact, they will continue to hunt and move.

Valgavoth, Terror Eater
Demons were once common in Duskmourn, doing business with the people of the plane. One of them, a particularly powerful one named Valgavoth, was imprisoned in a house. Over time, he expanded the boundaries of the house and occupied the entire plane in a ritual known as the Ascension.
One of his first acts after taking control of the plane was to kill most of the other demons of the plane and break the rest to ensure that no one could challenge his rule. Those who survived seek revenge on the house or continue to make pacts with the survivors in the hopes of one day overthrowing Valgavoth.

Spaces that arouse fear and curiosity - with the Zipfolio 360
The Zipfolios show the artwork of a new game mechanic that will be introduced with the MTG expansion Duskmourn - House of Horrors comes into play for the first time.
The new " space " mechanics (eng.: Room ) introduces an innovative twist on enchantments. Room cards are split enchantments with two "doors," each with its own cost and effects. Players cast a room by opening one door and can later unlock the second door for additional benefits. This mechanic allows for flexible gameplay, as players can choose which effects to activate based on the game situation.
